The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funds
Title 1 and IDEA Funds are available to invest in initiatives to address social emotional barriers to academic achievement. Evidence is clear that attending to social-emotional needs results in measurable improvement in academic outcomes. Findings from three recent scientific reviews can be retrieved from the Senate Hearings, www.lpfch.org/sel or www.casel.org.
SDM/PS staff also work with school staff to design individualized intervention plans for regular education teachers and students identified for early intervening services because of behavioral, emotional and social issues. SDM/PS methods combined with computer based software tutorials designed to address individualized objectives help regular education teachers provide individualized instruction in the least restrictive setting.
