The
Community Sharing Circle
Last year, SDM/PS consultants worked with 6th grade teachers
in Piscataway, NJ as they piloted the first of a three year
project called "The Community Sharing Circle".
The goal is to help the teachers document this project as
a base for sharing this approach with other districts in
the future. Other districts expressed an interest in learning
more at a conference on December 4, 1999.
Last year's 6th grade class worked for three months, resulting
in a convocation in which they presented their recommendations
to the Director of the Recreation Department of Piscataway,
NJ. He in turn presented the winning proposals to the City
Council.
This year students and teachers will be followed and supported
in the second year of this project. More to come as this
year's plan is developed.
