NJ Administrative Code for Student Conduct
and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying and IDEA Early
Intervening Intervention Plans
In many N.J. school districts the Social Decision Making
Problem Solving (SDM/PS) skills have been used with much
success as tools for helping student develop the skills
that they need to be successful in reaching the behavioral
expectations of the Student Code of Conduct established
through identifying core ethical values and reviewing discipline
records.
An overlapping and spiraling scope and sequence of skills
is developed for teaching or reviewing skills that are taught
at the start of every school year as a positive behavioral
support of the annual dissemination of the Student Code
of Conduct.
In addition, Social Decision Making Labs are used for
pre-referral and intervention strategies for remediation
problem behaviors.
In recent years behavioral training software has been incorporated
with SDM/PS methods for IDEA early intervening interventions
and for remediation in addition to consequences for behavior
((N.J.A.C. 6A:16-7, Student Conduct), as remedial measures
designed to correct problem behavior and prevent another
occurrence of the problem.
